Vegan Cuts July Beauty Box Unboxing

Here's what is in this month's box:

1. Bodi Safe Beauty - Lip and Cheek Enhancer in Charmed ($20 Value)
2. Suntegrity Skincare - natural Moisturizing face Sunscreen and Primer ($4.95 Value)
3. Zoe Organics - Refresh Oil ($14 Value)
4. Molly Rose Balms - Citrus Almond Lip Scrub ($7 Value)
5. Nature's Shea Butter - Vanilla Ylang Ylang ($2.75 Value)
6. Hello - Floride Toothpaste in Mojito Mint ($1 Value)
7. Modicum Skincare - Essential Serum ($20 Value)
Total Value: $69.70

I like that this box has seven products and the box value is double what I paid. The lip and cheek and enhancer is a pretty, natural pink colour. I have tried it on my lips and it feels great but, I wouldn’t put the product on my cheeks. The consistency isn’t something I feel is meant for your cheeks. The shea butter is a vanilla scent so naturally I thought I would like it. However, it has Ylang Ylang essential oil mixed in and the smell is very sweet and doesn’t sit well with me. But, the product itself is very rich and nourishing on the skin. I think receiving a toothpaste this month is fantastic because I have always wanted to try a natural toothpaste and now I can. The last box had a mini sunscreen and I think I said, it is always great to have a small size sunscreen for the summer and bring with you to the beach. I like that I can try out another mini sunscreen but, it is different because this one is a sunscreen and face primer in one, which I have never heard of before. I have never heard of an Essential oil stick before but, I think it is basically like a roller ball perfume. However, they are much more fragrant in comparison. I haven’t tried the face serum yet but, it has a high value and a luxurious bottle so, I have high hopes the the product inside is good as well. I love the lip exfoliator. The fact that it is in a tube like lip balm makes the process much more convenient. In a box a got a couple months back I received another Molly Rose Balm product, a body exfoliator (which I used up very quickly). So, with that being said I really enjoy their products and will most likely purchase a full size in the near future. The exfoliators, exfoliate, that’s a given but, they don’t leave your skin dry, they leave your skin ridiculously smooth.

Outfit | Palazzo Pants

So, I saw these pants online and I had to have them. I am never usually adventurous with bottoms. I tend to stick with plain black leggings and pants. However, these palazzo pants have changed my mind forever. They are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn. They're flowy and surprising they keep you cool in the hot weather. I got mine at Garage Clothing; they are now on sale and have a couple of more colours and patterns.

The Ultimate Summer Wish List

Spring, a company based out of NYC connected with me to write a summer wish list. After looking at their accessories page, I fell in love with some of their items and I had to share.

HATS
I have never been a hat person until recently when I purchased a wool floppy hat. I now love hats and they're a great way to cover up second-day hair. These two simple baseball caps fit the athletic or sporty summer trend perfectly.

HAIR ACCESSORIES
It's hot in the summer and that means wearing our hair up. A way to make a ponytail cute is to use a detailed hair elastic.

EYE WEAR
Mirrored and coloured sunglasses are very trendy right now and I've always thought fake glasses were kind of interesting.

OTHER
Bright colours are a must in the summer and this "key fob" is a perfect small way to add a pop of colour. Moreover, the purse pom-pom key chain is a fun way to add colour to any summer outfit.

The Intern Files | How to get a fashion internship

September is fast approaching! And that means the start of the new school year, finding an internship, maybe moving to attend school and even finding a new job. So with all that said, the program I'm attending requires a mandatory internship to be completed before you graduate. However, I want to try to do as many as I can and gain lots of valuable experience. I found a fashion internship that I will be starting in September. I want to share how I got mine and help others who need one to find one as well.

First, before applying to any internship (or job) you need to have a killer resume and cover letter (even a portfolio if you want to work in a creative industry). I have researched a lot about resumes. Here are my discoveries:

  • your resume should only be one page. It is easier for the hiring manager to keep track of one page and not worry about losing the other page if you had two
  • you want your resume to stand out from the boring black and white pile. Add some colour, but don't go overboard. Check out Pinterest for some inspiration on how to make a more creative, stand out resume.

Next, you need to be on LinkedIn. Make a profile and add relevant education, work or volunteer experience, that is applicable to what you want to do in the future. Then, you want to connect with people you know; friends, family, coworkers, and classmates. After that you could connect with HR or management from companies you would want to work for or just keep them in mind for future messaging about internship information or questions.

After making the perfect resume and a stand out LinkedIn Profile, the third thing I am going to tell you to do is to check out Lauren Berger's Intern Queen. Her website is filled with internships from all over North America and even virtual internships. I recommend checking out the website, following her on social media and watching her YouTube videos. I am subscribed to her channel and she posts amazing and helpful content; I mean she is an expert.

How did I get my Internship?
I got my internship by first creating a one page, creative resume with current information relevant for fashion industry internships. Secondly, I updated my LinkedIn profile. Next, I started searching on Intern Queen for fashion internships in Toronto. I also had subscribed to Lauren's YouTube Channel and started to watch her videos; Don't want to sound repetitive, however, they are extremely helpful.

After I found an internship  that caught my eye, I ended up connecting with the person who posted the internship on LinkedIn, (the company founder.) After I connected with her, she reached out and asked how I discovered her. I said though the internship posting and she replied with, "Are you thinking of applying." I said, "not for the summer term but, for my fall semester for school credit."

A couple of months later, I followed up on LinkedIn, sent her my official application (my one-page resume) and we set up a meeting to discuss details and a start date. At the short meeting, we discussed the company and what it is all about, the start date, where I would work and what I would be doing. And the rest is history I start my fashion business internship in September at Ms. Dress Up Inc., with Natalie and words cannot describe my excitement.

June Glossy Box Unboxing

I just got my Glossybox in the mail today and wanted to share what's inside! This month's box contained:

1. Sebastian Hairspray
2. Sebastian Dark Hair Oil
3. Iconico Milano Mascara
4. LA Splash Diamond Lipgloss in Sugar Rush
5. Sinful Colours Nail Polish (Kylie Edition) in Miss Klaws
6. Tan Towels
7. Pore Original Pack

First off we need to address the beautiful red box for this month for the Tony's. Now, what about the contents of the box? I love that it came with a travel sized hairspray; it is always great to have mini sized products. Next, the box came with a very tiny size hair oil sample. I ended up giving that to a friend because my hair is fine and can not handle heavy oils. I also love the lipgloss; it is an amazing colour that is extremely pigmented. I am excited to try out the mascara, it's fantastic that the box came with a full size.  Last, the products I am most excited to try are the tan towels and the pore pack. It is summer so who wouldn't want to look tan. Moreover, I struggle with blackheads and I am always looking for solutions. Hopefully, this product will be successful.

Lisa-Marie

Outfit | Scallop Details

I am someone who always chooses comfort in what I wear. If I don't feel comfortable in something, how am I supposed to rock the look and make it my own? This outfit draws inspiration from the simplicity and the minimalist trend. I love to wear basic colours like black & white and add a pop of colour through accessories. My favourite colour to add is blue; more specifically variations of blue such as, teal, aqua, turquoise, and mint.

Leggings - Lululemon
Shoes - Nine West
Jewellery - Forever 21 and Magnolia Jewellery
